This month went by fast. Most manuscript progress came toward the end of the month. Unlike the past two months, I met my minimum goal of six chapters being edited/rewritten. Building a readership/followers on Medium and Simily has been more challenging than first realized. I get more views here on my blog than I do anywhere else. I appreciate the likes, views, and occasional comments. Let’s me know I’m not writing into the void and not being seen.
I have been considering moving my short story chapters of Enemies but Lovers off Medium. Fiction doesn’t get many views on it. For future chapters, I will post to Ao3 and Simily. Though in retrospect, I’m unsure how much longer I will be posting to Simily. I will cover my views on the site in an updated post.
Here’s what I have been up to…
Writing Progress
Untitled Sci-Fi WIP– Monthly goal of six chapters was reached. For the past two months, I was having a hard time sitting down to write. I would make significant progress when in the zone. Getting there was the problem. Since I had two months of not making much progress, I may not be getting the second draft done by the end of the year. I started the draft in March of this year. If I get it finished before March 2023, I will feel accomplished.
Enemies but Lovers– It has been a couple of months. I have not forgotten about it. I hate to admit it but it might be writer’s block.
Watching
The Falcon and the Winter Solider– This series picks up after the events of Infinity Wars. A new ‘Captain America’ is chosen, and Falcon (Sam Wilson) and Winter Solider (Bucky Barnes) become a team out of necessity. If they don’t work together, a new breed of super soldier terrorists will make the world their playground.
Initially released in early 2021, I have finally been able to watch it. I hope to catch up on the rest of Marvel’s 2021 content before the end of this year. I’m glad I watched this series. Seeing Sam and Bucky get further character development was amazing. Even though it wasn’t much, it was good to get some background about Zemo. He didn’t get much spotlight in Captain America Civil War as he should have.
Werewolf by Night– A Marvel special about monster hunters called for a ritualistic hunt. The hunt is to honor the previous head of the guild and to decide the new master of the ‘Blood Stone’.
I went into this blind. I’m unsure if it fits in the MCU timeline at all. When it was over, I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t more. I liked how it was filmed in black and white and had the old monster movie vibe. Though with the MCU, do they ever let anything truly stay done? It will only be a matter of time.
