Welcome to the Blog Roundup! May was a bit of a motivation rollercoaster. Some days were better than others. I still reached my personal goals for the month so that is a plus. This month I was accepted into a publication on Medium called The Coffee Times.
Stay on Track Writing Tips was my first post to Medium that has seen consistent traffic. Medium is not the greatest site for Fiction writing to be noticed, unfortunately. On the flip side, posting a tips article netted at least 7 views in a week. It’s not much but compared to my fiction writing views on the platform, I will take a small victory.
Writing Progress…
Untitled Sci-Fi WIP– Seven chapters were rewritten this month. It is lower than in the past two months. My personal goal each month is six chapters so I am still on track.
Some chapters in this chunk needed more work than others. That is to be expected in a second draft. Overall, I am content with the progress made as a whole and so far I have not found any plot holes when rereading the new draft.
Enemies but Lovers– Chapter three is currently being drafted. This chapter had at least two false starts. Not all story writing goes smoothly as I well know. I hope to have it finished next month.
Milestone!
For other writing, I write scripts for a YouTube channel called Powered by Rainbows, PBR for short. It is a channel and safe space for LGBTQ advocacy and education. It is coming up to about a year and a half now of writing and I always learn something new when doing research for scripts.
This year an award show was held, and before it, the fans voted for four different categories, one being Best Writer. I can finally announce that I was awarded Best Writer. For a channel with over 90k viewers, I am very proud of this achievement. Everyone on the team are excellent writers. I would have been proud of whoever won.
Watching…
Spider-Man: No Way Home- My significant other and I rented the movie. Compared to other Spider-Man movies I have watched, it is one of the better ones. The hero is not my favorite though I enjoy watching Tom Holland. One aspect that I feel that was overdone was all the cameos of all the Spider-Man villains. Watching this movie led to the next film I saw this month.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness- This is one of the better-written MCU movies in a while. I am glad I watched WandaVision on Disney Plus before seeing this. The darker tone of the movie was also well done. Were some character endings over the top? Maybe but at least they made sense when they happened. After watching this movie, the MCU can go in any direction. I look forward to Miss Marvel series that is coming to Disney Plus in June. Though, I may not be watching it as soon as it drops.
As of writing this post, I need to start watching Obi-Wan. I don’t know about any of you but I feel like my watch list these days gets longer and never shorter. Lol.
Last Bits…
As I state every month, I hope to get a minimum of six chapters edited/rewrote in June. Also, I plan on figuring out which of the many projects I wish to tackle for my first Camp NaNoWriMo in July. More news on that in future posts.
